Dr. Dorianis Perez

Dr. Dorianis Perez is a Dominican-American first-generation college student with a PhD in Computational Science from Florida State University. She is a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) at Los Alamos National Laboratory, where she completed her dissertation research concerning turbulence in canopy flow related to wildfire behavior. Dr. Perez is an Adjunct Professor at Northern New Mexico College in the Department of Mathematics and Physical Sciences.

She is passionate about STEM education at all levels, serving on the Governing Board of The MASTERS Program in Santa Fe, an early college public charter school. She is a former mentor and lead ambassador for the Our Future is Science Program, working with students nationwide on the intersection of science and social justice. She is also a volunteer for SHPE Virtual STEM Labs and Equipando Padres programs, a member of the SHPE National Graduate Committee, a mentor for the MentorSHPE/FutureGRADS program, a volunteer with the SHPE National Convention Planning Committee, and a proud advocate for underrepresented minority students in STEM, seizing every opportunity she can to speak to the youth of Northern New Mexico. She is incredibly excited to be the VP of Collegiate Relations for the SHPE NM Professional Chapter!
